Your Mac's vital signs. In the notch.

When Claude Code or Codex is waiting on you, the notch tells you first.

See system health, AI usage, and agent status in the notch, the menu bar, or a draggable Floating Gauge.

01 · The notch

The black glass you already have. Now it talks.

CPU, memory, battery and AI usage on either side of the notch. You choose what goes left and right, and how wide.

02 · Agents

An agent is waiting. The notch speaks first.

See Claude, Codex, pi, Grok and Hermes at a glance: running, waiting for you, failed, quota limit. When one needs you, the notch expands, changes colour and plays the voice alert you picked. Everything pending lands in one list window.

Proanswer Claude, Codex and pi prompts right in the notch, without switching back to the terminal.

03 · Quotas

Know before a quota runs out.

Set used-percentage thresholds (50/80/90/95 by default). When a quota window crosses one, the notch expands with the provider, the window and the reset time, once per cycle.

04 · Floating Gauge

No notch? Use the menu bar. Or let it float anywhere.

iMac and external displays switch to the menu bar automatically. Drag the Floating Gauge anywhere. The new Clean style sizes its text to the preset, and values stay white until they cross a threshold.

05 · Local

Everything is read on your Mac.

Usage and agent status come from local CLI and session data. No telemetry, no analytics backend.

Interactive demo

Click the notch. It opens like the app.

A working HTML replica of the VoidNotch notch. Open the panel, switch tabs, then trigger the alerts an agent or a quota would raise and answer them. Every number is simulated demo data, not a reading from your Mac.

What's new

0.17.0

Agent Attention becomes an inbox, and each notification channel has one switch

  • 0.17.2 · Agent wiring uses a new relay name, and you can review the plan in privacy mode
  • 0.17.1 · Fix Claude quota refresh getting stuck after a failed fetch
  • Fix: on Macs without a notch (iMac, external displays), an answer card closed after the first click, so multi-select and multi-question cards could not be finished. You can now pick several options and then submit.
  • The Agent Attention window is now just the inbox: one row for search, Active/Complete history and a Filter menu; system warnings collapse to one line; each list row is two lines. Its tab bar is no longer hidden under the title bar on iMac.
  • Each item opens with a Next step: answer here, handle it in the terminal, or just read it.
  • Items clear on their own: when the same session does something new, earlier notices are marked handled; otherwise they move to Complete history after 24 hours. Mark All as Handled clears them in one go.
  • Notification settings moved to Settings › Alerts › Agent Notifications. Sound, read-aloud and system notifications each have a single switch: sound on the Sound page, read-aloud on the Speech page, system notifications on Agent Notifications. Whether VoidNotch made sound before the update stays the same.
  • Schedule now lists the wired Hermes, Codex and Claude agents' own scheduled tasks (read-only).
  • Cleanup adds an Exclusions list for files or folders you never want cleaned, and protects scheduled jobs' logs automatically. The browser tab can remove old Chrome, Edge and Brave versions left after auto-updates (off by default).
  • Settings use grouped cards with larger type, and Agent Wiring has one button per row.
  • From 0.15.1 you can upgrade with the in-app updater. Versions 0.15.0 and earlier need one manual download from this site.

Usage figures are read from local CLI and session data on a best-effort basis. Providers change their formats without notice; unsupported ones are labelled clearly, never shown as a fake 0%.

Local by default. Honest about the network.

Usage and session figures displayed in the app are read from local CLI and session data on your Mac. There is no VoidNotch telemetry and no VoidNotch analytics backend for product usage.

Polar is contacted for licence activation, validation, and deactivation. Provider or runtime components you already use may make their own network requests independently of VoidNotch.

Purchase is a licence entitlement. The same notarized app download covers Free and Pro; a licence key unlocks Pro. Checkout is hosted by Polar (Merchant of Record).

Pro is a one-time licence entitlement (not a subscription). Try Pro locally for 5 days / 120 hours. Cardless, no checkout. The public notarized download is a zip containing VoidNotch.app. Download, extract it, move the app to Applications, then open it. Safari usually extracts it automatically.

Prices shown before location-dependent tax. Polar calculates tax at checkout. Voluntary 14-day refund; Polar may separately issue refunds under its buyer terms or chargeback-prevention rights.

Licence keys arrive via Polar receipt email and the Polar customer portal, not on this page after checkout return.

Frequently asked

Is there a notarized download?

Yes. The current public download is VoidNotch v0.17.2 and it is Apple-notarized. The download is a zip containing VoidNotch.app. Download it, extract it, move the app to Applications, then open it. Safari usually extracts it automatically. No Gatekeeper right-click bypass, and no Xcode required. If the in-app update in v0.15.0 or earlier reports a signature or notarization error, download the current version here once; in-app updates work from v0.15.1 on. The MIT licence covers the code published at tag v0.6.0 only.

How does the Pro trial work?

The app can unlock Pro features locally for 5 days (120 hours) without a card or Polar checkout. When the trial ends, Pro features lock until you activate a purchased licence key.

Does it work on Intel Macs?

The public download is arm64 for Apple Silicon only. Intel Macs can run VoidNotch when you build the code published at tag v0.6.0, which is covered by MIT. Later versions are proprietary. The HUD moves to the menu bar when there is no notch, but temperature readings are unavailable because the thermal sensors are read through Apple Silicon's IOHID sensors and the Intel SMC path is not implemented. macOS 14 or later.

Do I need Xcode?

Ordinary use does not need Xcode. Download the notarized zip, extract it, move VoidNotch.app to Applications, then open it. Safari usually extracts it automatically. Xcode is only needed if you build the code published at tag v0.6.0, which is covered by MIT. Later versions are proprietary.

Will you go subscription?

No. Pro is a one-time perpetual licence for up to 3 Macs.

What happens if a provider breaks the format?

That provider degrades to “unavailable” rather than lying to you, and we ship a fix on a best-effort basis. Free and Pro both get it.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. A voluntary 14-day refund. Email support@voidnotch.com with your Polar order or receipt reference. Polar may separately issue refunds under its buyer terms or chargeback-prevention rights.
